A standard snorkeling or diving set is designed to bridge the gap between the surface and the sea, allowing you to breathe and see comfortably while moving efficiently through the water. While "snorkeling" and "diving" (scuba) sets share basic components, their technical specs differ.
1. The Mask (The Window)
The most critical part of any set, the mask creates an air space in front of your eyes so you can see clearly.
Lenses: High-quality sets use tempered glass, which is scratch-resistant and won’t shatter under pressure. Single-lens masks offer an unobstructed view, while dual-lens masks are easier to fit with prescription lenses.
Skirt: Look for 100% liquid silicone. It’s soft, hypoallergenic, and creates a watertight seal against your face. Cheap rubber skirts often leak and degrade over time.
