DisplayPort version (input) DisplayPort 1.1, 1.2, 1.4 are common. Higher versions allow more bandwidth. E.g. DP1.2 supports higher resolutions/frequencies.
HDMI version (output) HDMI 1.4, 2.0, etc. Higher HDMI version means higher bandwidth, allowing higher resolution & refresh rates.
Maximum Resolution & Refresh Rate Common limits include:
• 4K (3840×2160) @ 30 Hz when using e.g. DP 1.2 → HDMI 1.4.
• Full HD (1920×1080) or WUXGA (1920×1200) at 60 Hz or more.
• Some adapters can do 4K if the HDMI side and cable support HDMI 2.0 or better and if the DisplayPort version is sufficient.
